Does anyone have a good (and reader friendly) reference on LES models? I am trying to compare the Smagorinsky's model with the dynamic model and determine the relative merits of each with respect to flows in complex geometries.

Hi,
For theoretical information about subgrid models, you may have a look at Sagaut's book: http://www.cfd-online.com/Books/show...hp?book_id=247 I don't know general references dedicated to the use of subgrid models in complex geometry. However, standard Smagorinsky model is generally ill-suited for complex wall-bounded flow because of its dependence on the gradient of filtered velocity solely. It has no capability to self-adapt to various flow regimes. Hope this helps. Best regards Lionel |
