Whoever has any experience modelling heat exchangers, Which CFD Package is better for this? Heat Exchangers of the tubes and shell type. Counterflow, parallel flow, multiphase fluids.
I'm tending for Ansys but I would appreciate any advice. |

Michel,
It depends on if you are interested in sizing heat exchangers or looking at the details of flow and heat transfer. If you need a sizing code, I would recommend Proto-HX from Proto-Power <www.protopower.com> For details I used CFD-ACE+ <www.cfdrc.com>, but I have to admit that I work for CFDRC and might be biased. EFD.Lab works well for heat exchangers. If you are not a full time CFD user, you might find it better suited to your needs than some of the other, more difficult to use, codes already mentioned. Of course, I work for Nika so I'm biased. If I can help, drop me a line at mike@nikafs.com
