hi,
I am trying to write an euler code for compressible flow in a 2-D nozzle. I intend to use the ENO scheme. I am not sure however, whether to use the FV based ENO(the original one) or the FD based scheme. Can someone please explain to me the merits and demerits of both schemes. Am I right that in assuming that, in the FV scheme the solution and in the FD scheme we reconstruct the flux? If you happen to have any papers or codes that explain the basics, please mail them to my email ID. Thank you, Vinod |

I am also writing a code for the nozzle. But I am using Mac Cormack scheme. to do that

McCormack is a good scheme, however it needs a lot of fine tuning to iron out the oscillations that you find at dicontinuities. With ENO there are no oscillations and the excessive dissipation can be removed by increasing the order of accuracy.
However the question remains, which is better and easily implementible, the FV approach or the FD approach. |

For a 2d or 3d problem, it's very difficult to use ENO in FV method whereas relatively easy to use ENO in FD. Dr. Chi-Wang Shu has gived a detail analysis about ENO and WENO in ICASE 97-65. You can find his paper in www.icase.edu.
