Hello all. I知 really new to CFD.
At the moment I知 trying to figure out which CFD software to go for. I have narrowed it down to CFX, Fluent, Star CD and CF Design.
Among those CF Design seems the easiest to learn but I知 not sure it can handle multiphase flow; does anybody have any experience on this? I will be mostly modelling a phase change material with a moving solid/liquid interface. Any advice on the best CFD package for multiphase flow would be much appreciated. Thanks

Iエm new on CFD but i have seen some interesting work about multiphase flow on Fluent.

Regards

My suggestion is that you write to the companies and ask them how they would solve your problem and about the capabilities of their software.

In our group we use Fluent and Phoenics. If you are not afraid to write your own subroutines then both software would be fine. If you do not want to write your own subroutines then I can not recommend any of the two for multiphase flow with phase change.

I would say consider OpenFOAM. It has some phase change applications and some others are under development by users.
The big advantage is that you would be able to implement the models you like.
The disadvantage is the learning curve. However now there is a GUI for OpenFOAM, which solves a lot of beginner problems, but you have to pay for that.

Try Star-CCM+, they are pretty strong for free surface calculatiions, they use VOF. I you prefer the level set method, this code may be right for you: http://wissrech.iam.uni-bonn.de/rese...DGPF/index.htm

Try MFIX, it is free, and it was developed for multiphase flows.
