Two options are available for post-processing in CAELinux (IIRC...), once you have chosen the different variables you want to look at, and the output frequency, in Code_Saturne interface (in the different "Calculation control" pages).

You can use:
- either the SALOME platform, be sure then to set the default file format to MED for the Code_Saturne post-processing format,
- or ParaView, that can read EnSight format.

For large meshes, I would advise you to use ParaView that scales better with the number of cells.

Finally, if you need information on how to use these tools, here are the web url where you will find some help:
- SALOME: http://www.salome-platform.org
- ParaView: http://www.paraview.org

David

Hello David,

I was trying to use Paraview for post-processing (visualize the results) but I could not open the result files with Paraview. I have chosen the post-processing format as EnSight Gold and the results are save under RESU/CHR.ENSIGHT.03031553 directory. After finishing the run, I tried to open the result files using Paraview and it gave me the following erorr -
cvs/VTK/IO/vtkGenericEnSightReader.cxx, line 741
vtkGenericEnSightReader (0x14e4250): Error determining EnSightVersion

ERROR: In /home/dm2/henry/OpenFOAM/ThirdParty/ParaView3.3-cvs/VTK/Filtering/vtkExecutive.cxx, line 757
vtkCompositeDataPipeline (0x1451430): Algorithm vtkGenericEnSightReader(0x14e4250) returned failure for request: vtkInformation (0x14501a0)
Debug: Off
Modified Time: 96092
Reference Count: 1
Registered Events: (none)
Request: REQUEST_INFORMATION
FORWARD_DIRECTION: 0
ALGORITHM_AFTER_FORWARD: 1

Which version of Paraview do I need for post-processing? Currently I have ParaView3.3. Please suggest me how to visualize the results file using ParaView.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Regards

ParaView has evolved a lot since version 3.3. I would advise you to upgrade to version 3.6.2 (the latest one).

The EnSight reader has been improved (you don't have anymore to give the file endianness for example) ; that's perhaps the reason why you are seeing such errors.

Hello David,

After installing latest version of paraview, I am able to visualize the code_saturne results. Thanks a lot for your help!

Now I am trying to simulate convective and radiative heat transfer with natural convection inside a 2D square cavity. I created geometry and mesh using GMSH and I set up everything using Saturne GUI but while I am trying to run it, it is giving error in preprocessing stage. The error message is as below:

msarkar@obelix:~/Code_Saturne-1.4/Project/RUN1/CASE1/DATA$ ./SaturneGUI
nohup: redirecting stderr to stdout

The preprocessor log file (listpre) is attached here. Could you please help me to fix this problem. I tried to generate 2D geometry but Saturne says it is 3 dimensional and there is no volumetric mesh. I did not have any clue how to fix this problem. I also attached the mesh file here (cavitymesh).

Any help would be very much appreciated.

best regards
M. Sarkar
