Default rotating cavities - swirl decay

I am working on rotating cavities. I would like to know, how swirl decays in the axial direction in an annular cavity between two concentric counter-rotating cylinders. Is there any empirical formula for this decay? Can we get this from Boundary layer theory? I need some quick help on this.
