Hello, I would like to know which commmercial code is in your opinion best suited for the simulation of performance of aerosol simulation. Said in another way: is there any commercial CFD that you used (or that you know to have been used) with good results, for the simulation of aerosol dynamics? I am particularly interested in a good simulation of the convection, for what it concerns the fluid dynamics part, and of the particle trajectories. This is because I am designing a novel cascade impactor for aerosol sampling. So the simulated interception efficiency of the impactor must be as realistic as possible: in this way I may can choose the most efficient design without having to build all the prototypes. Thank you for your attention, greetings,

Andrea Panizza

Please see publication of P. Baltrenas, V. Spakauskas and P. Vaitiekunas,An Analysis of Heavy Aerosols Dispersion, PHOENICS Journal of CFD & its applications, volume 11, No3, pp 284-292 (http://www.simuserve.com/cfd-shop/vol11-3.htm#baltrenas) and visit PHOENICS webpage www.cham.co.uk to search for the library case z127.

Thank you, Pavan Sharma. The idea to use some Fluent UDFs may be a very interesting solution since my department already has some Fluent licenses. Greetings,

Andrea

I use Fluent for aerosol modeling, but heard that star-CD is better. Pick any one. I liked your project though. Can you please post some information, or attach some link... Thanks, Prashant

Dan# is on a distinguished road
Hi Andrea,
Were you able to calculate the collection efficiency from ANSYS?
