ANSYS For CFD?

Does anyone have experience using ANSYS to perform CFD calculations? I have ANSYS at my disposal, but wonder if I would be better off using something else. My specific needs include 3-D single-phase, turbulent, compressible, reacting flows. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

i personnaly had problem converging even quite simple problems with Flotran. i prefer fluent, but i guess i did not take the time to learn deeply how flotran works...

Hi David,
3-D single-phase, turbulent is o.k. with FLOTRAN, compressible can be trick to converge, reacting flows are not available but can probably dealt with by using external software to compute reaction properties over time, to feed to FLOTRAN, I never did this. Probably you get 'easier' handling for reactive flows within other codes: ask for solved examples with analytical solution from textbooks. Frank |
