Hi,
The segregated method solves different degrees of freedom seperately (u followed by v followed by w followed by P in fidap). The new value of u is used when the matrix is assembled for v etc. Successive substitution (and some other methods) assembles and solves the whole set of equations at go, using the old values of the DOFs to assemble the complete matrix. This takes much more memory but is usually faster in terms of iterations. You can look into the fidap theory manual for more details. Regards, Krishnan |
