Hi,
has someone experience with the difference wheter the leading edge of an airfoil is tapered or bluff ? What's the influence regarding lift and drag ? Best regards Tom |

(1). It is hard to answer your question because the trailing edge geometry is a function of the application and design. (2). If the application is such that the trailing edge can be made very thin and smooth, then the drag can be minimized because the wake region will be thinner. (3). If the the structure reason or cooling purpose, you need a thick trailing edge, then the drag created by the wake region will be higher. (4). So, it depends on the design purpose of the airfoil and its application.
