Hello all

I have been trying to get a fem code with penalty function for pressure to work. Is there any rule of thumb on the (order of) penalty parameter for general fluid applications...

Thanks.

Yes. In many cases you can get very good results if you select a penalty parameter equal to 1E8-1E12. However, the best method is to use a variable penalty parameter as function of viscosity i.e.

penalty parameter=(a Large value eg.1E10)*viscosity
