PHOENICS can handle the combustion in porous media either as fixed bed problem or as multi-phase moving granulated stream, taking place, say, in a blast furnace with its raceway and 'deadman' phenomena.
One can test-drive PHOENICS (free) , acces it via Internet on-line and/or off-line, get a shareware and open-source modules.
