What is the signifance of the Prandtl-Meyer angle in flow problems and why is it so important in supersonic nozzle flow?

Thanks

Especially if anyone knows of a reference to calculate nozzle contours for a variable mach number 2D supersonic nozzle with subsonic portion, portion from throat to inflection point, partial cancellation region and full calcellation region.

Thank you

(1). Most gas dynamics text books should have chapters related to MOC (method of characteristics) applications. (2). Type "nozzle moc analysis" into a websearch site, and you should be able to find more recent information. (3). Check into the NASA websites, such as Langley, or Lewis (now Glenn). They should have all the information related to the supersonic nozzle design.
