radiative heat transfer

hi
i'm looking for a simple test case to validate a radiation model. the geometry should be something like a gas filled enclosure with heat conduction in the walls and radiative heat transfer between a "gray" gas and walls. (vaal davis with radiation and heat conduction in walls) who knows a reference for such or a similar simple problem. thank you ulrich |

thank you for the references.
however, the references does not correspond to what i really need. I need a simple test case of an enclosure filled with a gas. I have heat conduction in the walls and radiation in the gas ( gas participating in the radiation) i would be pleased if someone can give me a reference for such a test case thank you ulrich bieder |

When you say "enclosure" it means 2D or 3D. It is generally known that If gas temperature (or any material like walls) exceeds 500 C gas (or material )will thermally radiate and the radiative heat transfer is predominant mode of heat transfer.
Anyway, you may look at this book: M. F. Modest, Radiative Heat Transfer,McGraw-Hill, 1993. his web site is also vey useful. All simple test cases are available. |

All settings for the problem listed in PHOENICS User Support Library as "Convection affected by radiation" can be found by inspection of its input file. Click here to download.
If you also take care to download PHOENICS VR-Editor, free of charge, from here, you will be able to inspect (and change if desired) the settings by loading the case and looking-by-clicking through the appropriate windows. Then, PHOENICS can be run on-line via CHAM's "Remote Computing Service" to get the simulation. Regards Sergei Zhubrin |
