Hey everyone, I'm working on project to define porous coefficients in thin mesh filter in dryer appliance. To do that I have plan to make experiment to measure pressure drop through the mesh in the straight tube, then verificate it in simulation. But question is - is it possible to transfer calculated on the basis of expirement viscous and inertial coefficients to exact same mesh but in complicated geometry? I want to use those number in simulations of whole appliance so filter with mesh are put in device in completely different geometry.
I assume that pressure drop will be different due to complicated environement and other loses but first I wanna ask experienced people than me

Okay, so there won't be such a big difference to consider simulation isn't comparable to experimental data?

Well yes.

You have to understand that the theory of Linear Isotropic Homogeneous media is a model for linear and isotropic and homogeneous media.

You can perform experiments to measure the properties of an ideal gas and then employ the ideal gas model to very complicated geometry. You can be awesome at CFD or you can be terrible at CFD, but that is independent from the task of measuring inertial and viscous resistance coefficients in a pipe. You can also be bad at experiments as well, that also is a possibility
