Hello,
I am trying to simulate a rocket exhaust plume using ANSYS Fluent 19R2. I need to model the afterburning of the rocket to accurately predict the temperature profile of the plume. In my case, the fuel is CH4 and the oxidizer is pure O2. While modeling the rocket exhaust, I had no problem running the simulation by inputting air as an ideal gas for the inlet (without implementing any combustion models). I also had no problem in simulating the model with non-premixed combustion embedded in Fluent. In non-premixed combustion model, the afterburning is predicted accurately without any convergence problems. However, in non-premixed combustion model, only very common fuel variations are defined. Therefore, I want to switch my model to the species transport with volumetric reactions. While using volumetric reactions with an 11 reaction mechanism, the model started to display convergence problems, especially if the defined reactions are reversible. Is there anyone familiar with using the volumetric reactions model? I would really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance. |
