Hello everyone,

I am attempting to simulate a rotating detonation in a 2D domain using the ZND initial condition, as shown in Figure 1. I have successfully created the simulation (Figure 2) with a grid resolution of 1047 x 351, an initial ZND height ('a' in Figure 1) of 84 grid points, and spatial distances of del.x = 0.00274 and del.y = 0.00285.

However, whenever I make even slight modifications to the domain, such as adjusting the grid resolution by one cell in the y-direction (1047 x 352), or increasing the ZND height by one cell (85 grid points), or making minor adjustments to the grid spacing, the detonation fails.

What could be causing this issue?"
