Hello, I am using the modified Newtonian impact method to predict the lift and drag forces acting on a von Karman ogive going at Mach 10.
I am interested in finding the location of the center of pressure once the code has obtained all the forces. I have read several questions posted on this forum regarding the same topic with no definitive answer so I decided to take a different route. I know that at COP, the resultant moment is equal to 0. So I have turned the cop into my design variable, and the minimization of Moment into my objective through the cost function: M = Fxr Turning this into single-objective optimization problem. (I am using particle swarm method). The results from the optimization is that the cop lies along an axis that cuts through the geometry, and if you fix the axis of the missile to the x-axis, the slope of this line doesn't change. Is this to be expected? I am puzzled by both the cop being an axis rather than a point and it not changing relative to the axis of the missile. I know that I can take advantage of the symmetry here but this is just a test geometry, I will be applying this to non-symmetrical ones later on. (The figures are in the pdf file btw) |
