Hi all,
I have a question regarding mass balance when evaporation takes place. Usually, when we heat 1 litre of water we have more than 1 litre of steam that forms. In a finite volume appoach how does this work? To put some numbers to my question: Lets say I have 1 litre of water initially in a 1D column. And lets say the temperature is 150C and pressure is 1 atm. This will generate 1740 litres of gas (data from PHREEQC run). But my control volume is always 1 litre. And we transport the gas phase in the next time step. How to deal with such scenarios where the mass explodes during phase change? Any clues?? Thanks. |
