Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and relatively inexperienced with CFD. I'm doing some simulations on open ended aerofoils (J-blades) - essentially hollow aerofoils with an opening on the trailing edge on the pressure side. Because the airflow enters the aerofoil, where it has very different flow characteristics to the external flow, what would be the best turbulence model for the job to predict both?
I have given RSM a shot (which worked quite well) but with the number of transient simulations I'm doing it'll be too computationally expensive. I need something that can predict the complex swirling flows/recirculation inside the aerofoil, as well as the external flow over the aerofoil. I have tried k-omega SST, realizable and RNG k-epsilon. k-omega SST seemed to get close in values of lift and drag coefficients to the RSM, but still seems to struggle a bit with the recirculating flow at the innermost area of the aerofoil. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated |
