Hi Everyone,
I have noticed that the BL Thickness (boundary layer edge) post-simulation is less than what I provided to the prism layer mesher. In this case, do I need to reduce the number of prism layers and increase the growth rate? or I have to keep the same number of prism layers and reduce the growth rate to encapsulate the whole boundary layer? Thanks for your time. Best regards, |

Hello Mazhar,
If you are using ICEM CFD, it is better to generate one prism layer of the total thickness of the boundary layer. So I would choose the section option. You can then use Edit Mesh > Split Mesh >Split Prisms to divide this layer into the required number of layers. To ensure the first layer is equal to the thickness that gives you y+ = 1, you can use Fixed initial height option. I noticed this is from awhile back, what did you do in the end? |
