hello,
i want to simulate the air bubble flow from the bottom of my domain (it is a 3D rectangular domain) in a two-coupling to see the effect of bubble curtain on the fluid dynamic. At the inlet i have a velocity inlet and a scalar which has the role to simulate a sediment. the simluations aims at to represent the barrier effect of air bubble on the sediment. Tt seems that the DPM does not influence the fluid dynamics of the sediment (the transported scalar). If a run the same simulations without scalar the DPM sounds good.
thanks in advance

vinerm will become famous soon enough
Discrete Particles do not affect UDS. They only affect the flow-field (or other fields, such as, thermal and species, depending upon the model). UDS is affected only by the flow-field, until and unless user uses some UDF or other approach to include some effects of Lagrangian Particles. So, if you run UDS along with flow and DPM, you should see the effects, provided Interaction with Continuous Phase is enabled in DPM.

Hi Vinerm, thank you so much.
I made a simulation in this way but i did not see any variations about the scalar: in theory, and as you wrote, i should see the streamline of the flow field turn around the DPM (for sure in two way coupling, i.e. Interaction with Continuous Phase) but i do not see variations of scalar. Can i send you my model?

How are you implementing the diffusivity for the scalar? By default, Fluent does not take turbulence into account. User needs to implement that via UDF. And that will make a lot of difference.
