Hi Everyone,

I am in a little confusion. I saw some of the CFD users have evaluated the power coefficient for their VAWT/HAWT using the formula Cp = Cm*TSR. I couldn't find the reference for this in literature. Is it recommended to use this for HAWT?

Actually, I am simulating the flow around a horizontal axis wind turbine blade, where to calculate the Cm I created a Report in STARCCM+ and defined the reference area as 1/3 of swept area (as I have one blade). So after computing average Cm do I need to use Cp = TSR*Cm or Cm*TSR*3??

Or if there is another approach to be used?

Thanks for your time.
