Hallo guys,
we are a company who produces high pressure valves for the production of polyethylene and urea Industry. The pressure drop ranges from 400 bar to 6 bar outlet to as high as 2000 to 3000 bar on the inlet versus 300 bar on the outlet. So we have pretty high pressure drops with a custom defined user material. We need to analyse the flow of polyethylene (polyethylene density and viscosity is described with a formula depending on pressure and temperature). Im the person who can decide which cfd package since actual (AVL Fire M). What solution would fit our needs most? Maybe later on we want to analyse the flow induced vibrations etc.... My favourite is Ansys since it seems to be most robust and robustness is important for me since we always have problems due to the high pressure drop simulation (up to 1600 bar pressure drop makes it always possible to get converge result with RANS general) Best regards, Stefan |

As when i see the number of viewers i may think that ansys is the best solution overall because it seems to be that it is the most used solution. But we do have very special requirements due to the very high pressure drop and the kind of medium we use.
And what i know already: OpenFoam is not able to handle our problem according to the answer of a company who provides an open foam based solver. Since we are using ABAQUS we may use X Flow because it is from the same company but im not sure if x flow can handle the problem..... But there seems to be a coupling environment from frauenhofer institut to make FSI between Ansys CFD and FEM Abaqus |
