Hi,
This book on the Finite Volume Method looks interesting: Finite Volume Method in Computational Fluid Dynamics - Moukalled, Mangani, Darwish especially as it seems to include details of how the concepts are implemented in the OpenFOAM code. I am just wondering if anyone has read it and would recommend it? What are the pros/cons, compared to other texts? |

Hi,
I think this book is actually the best on the market. Why? Because it is rich of numerical details that you cannot find anywhere else. I have read almost every book on the topic (peric, versteeg, blazek etc), but I found Moukalled really useful if you need something more advance than a simple intro to cfd. In december the new edition of Peric's book should come out, I am curious to see their reply This naturally my personal opinion. |

Hi AliE, thanks for your input. It seems like this book could be a good choice for me, as I am interested in learning more about both CFD and OpenFOAM.

If you are new to CFD, then I suggest you to start with Peric's book and then move to Moukalled when basic concept are clear. Moukalled is very good for the large amount of numerical details, but you can enjoy it more, if you have already a good base.

@TurbJet: Ok, thanks. AliE had recommended reading it before the Moukalled book, so I am thinking about ordering it.

Yes, they have added a complete chapter on fractional step method written by Robert Street which is a giant in the field. Also they have revised the book and added sone example I think.
