peiodic boundry condition

I'm trying to simulate vertical flow over perforated horizontal plate. as the pattern of holes on plate are periodic can I use periodic B.C to avoid modeling the whole plate. in other word can i use periodic B.C in direction that is Perpendicular to my flow direction??
