Hi all,
I am looking for an open source code for phase change simulation by VOF method. There are a lot of solvers for this purpose. For example, there is a framework in the OPENFOAM called InterThermaPhaseChangeFoam. However, this solver and similar frameworks ,as I ever seen, have some critical deficiencies and restrictions . Some of these deficiencies are addressed as follows: 1) The lack of assigning geometric reconstruction , typically, being used in VOF interface tracking. 2) The lack of the assigning pressure and velocity discontinuities at the interface due to phase change phenomena. 3) The lack of the assigning of a fixed saturated temperature over interfaces instead of cells including interface and then the heat and mass source term computation according to the energy equation . One of the most referred papers overcoming these deficiencies , is Welch and Wilson paper as followed : A Volume of Fluid Based Method for Fluid Flows with Phase Change In this paper , all of above mentioned deficiencies and lacks have been resolved. However, yet, I have never seen an open source code based on this paper. Is there an open source code based on Welch method implementing velocity and pressure discontinuities at interface and setting interface (instead of cells) temperature as saturated temperature ? Thanks in advance for any suggestion and help. P. Maroul |
