I am a student, trying to research for a project, my school uses solid works.

I am trying to find temperature of air reaching someone's lungs if the person is breathing near a hot air vent.

The situation is that, hot air (100 degree F) is flowing from a 1/4 inch tube at the rate of 20 liters/minute. The person’s mouth is at 135 degrees from the hot air tube and about 2 inches away. The ambient temperature is about 25 F, The person is breathing in at the rate of 20 liters/minute (10 breaths of 2 liters each). Question is how much of suction force is created by the person’s breathing that would take is some bit of hot air mixed with ambient air and what is the net temperature of air reaching the person’s lungs, assuming no heating done by person’s body.

My goal is to reduce cold ambient air reaching person's lungs.

I am thinking of using Internal flow simulation to create a hot air tube with desired volume flow. I can model person's trachea as a 1.5 inch tube (breathing by mouth) and 12 inches in length. Placed at an angle of 135 degrees and 2 inches away. I don't know how to model suction force of breathing and mixing of hot air flow with ambient air.

I can change temperature of hot air, angle and volume of air flow.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thank you
Rishab.
