I want to simulate motion of solid particles in a newtonian fluid. Is it possible to define a fluid with high viscosity and high surface tension instead of solid particles and then solve the problem with VOF multiphase model?

This approach is possible but has limitations: Fluid "particles" of this properties get always round. You cannot simulate any effects which depend on the shape of the particles.

Hello,
You have to use FSI (Fluid-solid interaction) to solve phenomena so you have te define degrees of freedom to particles but overset mesh is needed in this case of simulation |
