Drying of Clay

Dear sir/madam, I have been approached with a problem concerning the drying of clay in a rotary kiln. Hot air, 1200 degrees centigrade is injected into the kiln, which reacts with the clay releasing gasses into the kiln. Once the clay has reached approx. 600 degrees C the gasses combust with the air. VOC's are combusted, but not all. I would like to model this process and I wondered if anyone had carried out any similar analysis. Any response would be greatful. Thanks. James Hampson
