Hello everyone...

I am working on a multi phase reactor, where the flow moves upwards. I need to extract images for a presentation of the 3D flow (the topology of the flow, or the flow profiles), at different heights. So, I have unsteady statiscs of Y mean velocity, and I want that in a 3D surface. The reactor is half circular tube.

Fluent gives me exactly what I need (as showed in the figure attached). However I just can't have the images for just the profiles, the 2D contour appears also in the image, and I do not want it.

I have downloanded Paraview and Tecplot, but I can't find a tutorial to help me.

CFX-Post also does not have the option to show "3D contours" or surface plots.

Can someone help me ?

thanks

I think you can do that in Tecplot, by using slices along the axis

Thanks dear FMDenaro. I am looking for tutorials on how to do that. I've already managed to cut extract slices, however I can't plot the contours or the 3D surface... And I can't find any tutorial on how to do that...

thanks

For sure, you can activate in slice option several planes where the vector plot is represented out of the plane in a 3d view. Actually, what you want to see is the representation of a 2D function in the 3D space. Maybe you can work passing the 2D data to Matlab

Thanks again. I have already tried Origin and QtiPlot. However, it is a semi circular region, and in those softwares the XZ plane is retangular, and so I have a area retangular of the plots, where the values outside my semi circle are represented as well, and I couldn't find a way to hide them...

I am quite sure you can obtain that in matlab, try to see
