I'm not too much of a help here, but I am curious what quantities or insight you hope to extract from a waterski calculation. To do this problem justice you will be talking about a fairly involved calculation including a nonlinear free surface. For free surface papers you might start with the ship hydrodynamics community, as many of the concepts will be directly applicable to the case of a water ski.
