Hi everyone,
I am trying to implement entrainment rate of sediments and bed load transport in a code developed by my research group. The code calculates the Navier-Stokes equations in the dimensionless form. My question is about the sediment concentration that appears with the entrainment rate. I don’t know how to convert these values evaluated by the program (volumetric concentration) in values with dimension like a lot of papers present (kg/m³). Actually, I can’t understand very well what means this volumetric concentration. Besides the empirical entrainment rate is dimensionless and we have to multiply this value by the sediment settling velocity. Since the settling velocity depends on the fluid viscosity, the entrainment rate is highly dependent on the viscosity as well. Sometimes we change the viscosity in a way to decrease the Reynolds number (I believe everyone has already done this in your researches), and I don’t know if I can do this in this case. To clarify, I've tried to reproduce the net entrainment test case showed in page 4 of this paper: https://journals.tdl.org/icce/index....e/7183/pdf_675 I don't use exactly the same formulation, I am just trying to reproduce the test. Has someone already worked with entrainment of sediments? Thanks in advance. |
