Hqjen is on a distinguished road
Hi all,

I hope I am not breaking any rules by reposting my thread from another sub-forum, if so, i will of course oblige and correct any mistakes.

However, i posted a question in the StarCCM+ forum last Thursday, which have gotten no replies, so i'm thinking a broader audience might be of help. Original post can be found here: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/sta...ar-stress.html

TL;DR:
The shear stresses on the surface of a cylinder are varying very much across the surface. This happens only when the mesh density is increased. The problem is illustraded in the attached figure: Target_Konfig6_Shear Surf.png

The Setup:
Re: 10^6
Models: K-omega SST, Gamma Reynolds Theta
Convective Courant and y+ both under 1
60 prism-layers
~1450 surface cells on the cylinder
Residuals stable and dropping 3 orders of magnitude within each timestep.

I hope someone might give som pointers, or have any experience as to why this might happen.

Sincerely
HQjen
