Hi everyone,
I want to model a single Wind turbine with Actuator Line theory in openFOAM. but I just don't know which turbulence Model is the Best for this task. can you help me? Thanks |

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't actuator line theory used to look at effect of wake on a series of turbines (wind farm)? I'm not sure you will get anything useful out of this simulation with only a single rotor.

maybe you find these interesting M.J.Churchfield P.J.Moriarty G. Vijayakumar J.G.Brasseur, 2010, Wind Energy-Related Atmospheric Boundary Layer Large-Eddy Simulationm Using OpenFOAM, NREL/CP-500-48905 and with almost the same authors another conf. paper 2012, A Large-Eddy Simulation of Wind-Plant Aerodynamics, NREL/CP-5000-53554 yes and no. you can use it anywhere you want as soon as you know why you're using AL. |
