Default important flow features in heat transfer?

Hi Guys, I've got some academic CFD experience in the aerospace field (transonic aeroelastic) and have recently been looking at CFD positions in industry.

Many of the jobs I am looking at involve heat transfer problems, forced cooling of reactors etc. I have limited experience in this type of thing. I was wondering if someone could please provide a brief description (or direct me to an introductory online reference) of the type of physical phenomena one would encounter in such flows and/or the important parameters for such flows.

If anyone could offer some advice I'd greatly appreciate it.

Many thanks, Bren
