Hi all,
I am currently creating a final year project on 'Water spray injection into turbocharged internal combustion engines'. I am investigating the effect on many aspects of efficiency, heat transfer, burn rate, emissions, knock resistance, turbo and cylinder temperatures when injecting water, or water vapor into the inlet of the engine. Later on I will try to learn to use VECTIS to model the heat transfer within the cylinder, but for now I need to evaluate the effect of water Injection on the temperatures at various points within the system - for this task I am using Ricardo WAVE (despite being relatively new to the software). One of the variables I am looking to evaluate is the location of the water injection, and what results could be obtained at various points (before cylinder, before turbo, before inlet etc.) as well as the amount of water injected, the temperature of the water, and the duration of the pulse. Therefore I am trying to use a fuel injector and create a depiction of water as a fuel within wave. I have recently, however learned that WAVE cannot compute this procedure, and the update to allow it to do so is due 1st May - two weeks after my project deadline! The only other feasible option I can see is to change the composition of the air being drawn in, but this will not leave me a range of results investigating anything near what I am looking to examine. Anyone have any better ideas?! Any help gratefully received, Matt |
