New dedicated forum for EFD and FloWorks users

CFD Online today launched a new dedicated discussion forum for users of the EFD and FloWorks software packages sold by Flomerics.
Flomerics has long been a strong player in application oriented markets like electronics cooling, with their Flotherm software. In 2006 Flomerics acquired NIKA GmbH. Since then they have been growing quickly also in the more general CFD market with their EFD and FloWorks packages. The new forum allows users of these codes a dedicated place to discuss problems and features related to these softwares packages from Flomerics. Flomerics are aware of this new forum and will most likely monitor it and take part in the discussions. They will also inform their current users about the new forum. However, the forum is completely independent and it is in no way financially supported by Flomerics. We hope EFD and FloWorks users will enjoy the new forum. EFD/FloWorks Discussion Forum |

Just out of curiosity: so what is your motivation? from "propaganda" on top of cfd-online pages, is it? do you get money based on total number of visitors? |

We have no other motivation than to make CFD Online a better CFD portal.
We are normally a bit reluctant to open new forums for codes that have not had a lot of discussions on the main forum. A forum needs a certain number of users to reach critical mass and sustain the discussions. Flomerics asked us to open a forum for their EFD and FloWorks codes. At first we were a bit sceptical that too few users would use the forum. But since Flomerics volunteered to inform all of their users about the new forum and help answer questions on it we decided to give it a try. Hopefully the forum will reach enough EFD and FloWorks users to sustain a continious discussion. |

Hmm, but what is your reason to add propaganda in CFD-Online pages, without charge? anyway, your efforts are indeed great!, cfd-onlnie is a funny scientific palce, I like it. |

What is it that you think is propaganda? Flomerics did post a few initial posts on the forum just to try to get the discussions going. When opening a forum it is good to at least have a few messages on it initially. I wouldn't call it propaganda though and CFD Online will not allow advertising or other forms of hidden propaganda on the forums.

Ok, I do not mean what you imply but my question was more general, in the other word I try to imply that (i'm not sure) CFD-Online does not seems to be a non-profit effort (e.g. right now, you have propaganda for FieldView, do you do this free for such companies?)
you do some sales promotion explicitely for several companies, e.g. Flow3D, Ensight, FieldView etc, considering this adding a new forum means addition of new members so increase number of visitor and ... (so implicitely increase credit of your propaganda) |

John,
Flomerics motivation was pretty straigthforward. As mentioned in the press release we are aiming to provide a technical community for the users of our software, particularly the large number of educational users who typically don't have access to technical support. |
