Starting with CFD

Hi everyone.
I'v currently begun on my examination thesis,(Swedish: Civilengineering) Masters in Mechanical Engineering). The problem that I am to solve is all about CFD. I have never come in contact with CFD during my education(nor fluid dynamics except some simple pressure/velocity calculations using Euler) and I have a tremendous hard time knowing where to start. Right now motivation is going down slope, unfortunatly there aren't many here that has any greater knowledge in CFD(of what I know) except a one or two professors (But they hardly have time though). I will talk to one of my tutors in dynamics if he can show me some guidlines into ordinary fluid mechanics. The book that I have right now is J. Andersson's book, which helped some. But I'm still standing still. Anyway, I do not except any miracles to happen, but any help/suggestions from any of you would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Mo |

I can suggest you one more book for cfd which is Numerical heat and Mass transfer by S V Patankar,it is a very good book. It may help in understanding the cfd but you have not revealed what problem you are going to solve in cfd ...so i cant tell you any suggestion on that...or tell me where exactly you are struck i may try to solve your problem...

Thank you for your reply.
Even if I would get the problem solved I still need to understand what happend, so basiclly the main issue is the lack of knowledge =(.I figure there is always a big slope when trying to learn a new subject. I think I started in the wrong direction actually, since I don't have any basic knowledge of fluid dynamics I should be starting there. Guess I pretty much answered my own questions. Thank you again, Srinivas for taking your time. Mo |
