CFD Online has been off-line since November 14 due to a serious hardware failure.

Two harddisks in our redundant RAID5 disk array crashed almost simultaneously. This brought down the server and caused some loss of data. Fortunately we had an off-server site backup from November 13.

The last few days have been spent on replacing broken hardware and reinstalling everything from the operating system and up. Hopefully everything should now be working again. If you notice something broken please send an email to webmaster@cfd-online.com.

We have read back the site backup from November 13, but data entered after the backup was made until the server crashed has been lost. Please feel free to resubmit it if you want.

These things should not happen when you have a redundant RAID5 disk array with an online spare disk. This incident proves that also the most unlikely events do sometimes happen. CFD Online has been online for more than 13 years without a similar accident though!
