In my work plan I have to Compare Air numerical results with Water experimental results to study the mixed convection effects on the flow structure in a simple geometry.

Yes, this is normal. It is a standard engineering approach - and is the reason scale models can be built to accurately reproduce the flow fields of the full sized device. See Similitude (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Similitude_%28model%29)
