Default Second order spatial derivatives

Does anyone know of recent references for approximating second order derivatives of velocity on unstructured finite volume meshes.

I am interested in obtaining the viscous diffusion term of the Navier-Stokes solution on a post-processing basis in order to calculate the acceleration. I have already used a simple method of creating shape functions at each volume node and differentiating the derivative a second time... but I am concerned about the accuracy of this method, especially near walls.

Thanks.
