Read the book on Turbulent Jets by Rajarathnam. It should teach you the basics. Fluent has a solved example in the turbulence model tutorial where a 2D (axisymmetric) jet has been modeled using RANS models. Plus there are hundreds of papers (both journal and conference) on jet flow simulation. You can just use google or yahoo to find them.

Start by reading the exact mathematical solutions to the Laminar axisymmetric and plane jets, then go to the numerical solutions to the 2 & 3D turbulent jets
