(1). They used to be two programs from two separate companies. (2). Sometimes ago, they became one company. (3). So, the easiest way to find out the detail information is to visit the Fluent home page or talk to their technical people. (4). Do some Internet surfing before asking a question. Just type some keywords into Yahoo search or the like, you will be surprised by the number of sites and information available.

i've never used either but i've heard good impressions of fidap and bad impressions about fluent from my colleagues (college students). also the content and capabilities of fidap may have been changed since its parent company was swallowed up by fluent

Different numerical methods are used in Fidap and Fluent. Fidap employs finite element solver, while Fluent uses finite difference (volume) approach.

Hi,
Are you talking about the general packages or meshing tools ? If it's about meshing then see below; GeoMesh was a joint project between ICEM CFD (who I work for) and Fluent. GAMBIT is Fidap's preprocessor rewritten by Fluent ICEM CFD and Fluent will come to the end of their partnership which makes up GeoMesh on the 31st of December 1999. What this means to the users is that P-cube, Leo, DDN etc will not be available from Fluent and the users have to decide on one or more of the following options; 1. Continue with GeoMesh but get the missing modules direct from ICEM CFD Engineering 2. Move to GAMBIT (Fluent's new preprocessor) 3. Move to ICEM CFD Engineerings latest meshing tools, HEXA and TETRA. For more detailed information on this change over please visit; http://www.icemcfd.com (General) http://www.icemcfd.com/misc/geomesh_options.html (GeoMesh) It holds information on special change over pricing. If anybody has any questions on this then you can send an email to info@icemcfd.com regards David |
