Dear Friends,

I heard that multi-scale modeling and simulation is recently a hot research topic (e.g. related especial conference or SIAM allocated a separate journal for it), but when i reviewed some papers (not deep) about this, i feel that they are nothing else classic methods with spatially (static/dynamic) grid refinement support, that essentially is not new topic !

are they other thing more than this?

I feel that methods such as LES (my knowledge about LES is very introductory) can be called as new multi-scale as it models effects of sub-grid scales and don't perform calculation on finer grid.

any comment and opinion is appreciated.
