Volume Fraction Calculation

Good afternoon, I am trying to make a simulation of a free surface flow and I am struggling in initializing and computing the Volume Fraction of the domain on my cartesian grid. Anyone could explain how to do that to me after I defined the surface analytically? If I have a droplet surface in my cartesian grid, and it is defined by a circunference function, I can compute the area (2D) under the curve, but I actually want, is the Fraction of that area corresponding to each single cell.
I hope someone can help me or suggest me a paper on that Thanks simone |

i suggest u to read these papers (your mantioned problem is disscussed in details):
1. Analytical relations connecting linear interfaces and volume fractions in rectangular grids, Journal of Computational Physics 164 (2000) 228-237. 2. Numerical simulation of liquid/gas phase flow during mold filling, Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering 196 (2006) 697-713. |
