Venturi Mixer Formula & Equations

Hi all, I have been reading this forum for sometimes. I wonder if anyone can give me a hand or direct me to any website related. I am looking for information regarding how to calculate the Air & Gas flow (NG) thru a Venturi Mixer and sizing the Venturi Mixer correctly for the application. Any thing in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Gen

Hi Gen Woo The flow through a good venturi is a function of the throat diameter (area) and absolute inlet pressure. The low pressure (vacuum) created in the throat of the venturi due to high velocity there will draw the ingredient into the flow stream and the exiting air flow will propel it outward. The mass of the ingredient will retard the venturi flow. Shoot me if I'm wrong but try this scenario. P1 = inlet pressure = 100 PSIG or 114.7 PSIA the throat dia D = .125 inches. Q = Flow in Standard Cubic Feet Per Minute (SCFM) W = approximately .075 pounds per Standard Cubic Foor (SCF) Then Q = 14.5 x .125 x .125 x 114.7 = 26 SCFM 26 SCFM x .075 Pounds = 1.95 Pounds per Minute (Air) For a Scientific Wild Guess if you subtract the weight of the amount of your ingredient flow per minute and multiply by about .75 for loss to turbulence and inefficiency you will be close enough for government work.
