Hey guys,

is there a tool that does geometry optimization based on simulations that are executed in a cloud environment like Amazon AWS?

Let give me you an example:
I want to find an airfoil that is perfectly suited to my requirements.
The airfoil geometry depends on some variables and is automized via scripts. Mesh generation and simulation is scripted too. In the postprocessing I want to get some parameters from which a quality number is calculated - let's just say for simplicity cl/cd.
Everything should be executed on aws ec2 instances.

Now the tool should glue all this together:
Start instances and run geometry generation, meshing, simulation, post-processing on them. From the results it should generate new geometry parameters and restart the process until it finds a maximum quality.
In the end I want to get an overview of the quality distribution, how it is influenced by the various parameters and download the simulation results of the "best" geometry. Further all used instances should be destroyed.

Is there something like this available? Do you know something similar?

Thank you!

Best,
Malte

MalteJ - have you checked out Rescale? They are an American company that is doing something similar to what you've described. Could be useful.

TotalSim can do that sort of thing for you.

We spend a lot of our time doing parametric optimisation. Usually limited to 6 input parameters and any number of performances. We then used krigging to find optimums and show your sensitivities. We've got 1200+ cores so we can carry out plenty of simulations at the same time. Its not technically in the cloud, but it is automated and scripted by our end.

An example of the type of automated deformations can be found here http://www.totalsimulation.co.uk/wp/sculptor/

If its of interest then please get in contact.
