CFD CODES FOR MARINE APPLICATIONS

Dear Friends,
We have plans to purchase a few licenses of one CFD coed, before that I have been analysing briefly the three main CFD codes for marine related problems (STAR-CD, FLUENT & CFX). I would like to read the experience and thoughts from people using these codes for solving problems of water around ship's hulls, wave generation, propelllers, etc.. I think Star-CD has the biggest experience from Comet and a good team for supporting and validation. Best Regards and thanks in advance, 1995JAL |

COMET is pretty much the industry standard and used by a lot of marine people, but is fairly old, hard to use and is being slowly phased out. The VOF model is now in STAR-CD and STAR-CCM+ though and the other stuff (6dof etc) is being phased in so thats probably your best bet
