Hi guys,
I'm trying to analize an effects of Dimple on Golf ball... I'm beginner.. So, I have many question about it. 1. Just Using 2-D analysis, can I realize the streamline and calculate Coefficient of Drag on the ball? 2. I have trouble in meshing the ball. Using only Ansys workbench, I drew geometry, and applied its mesh. However, it didn't match at Setup (Fluent): the number of nodes 18400 but it was 5 cells on the setup. How can I solve this error...? Do I have to use Gambit? |

Hi, I don't think a two-dimensional geometry is representative of the problem, since the dimples of the surface of the ball are 3D features, and so will be the flow around the ball.
Maybe you can reduce the problem to computing only a sector of the ball and using periodic boundary conditions on the sides. What do you think? Check out these sources.
